Name:
[/u] CorianderGender:[/u] She-cat
Age:[/u] 26 moons
Clan:[/u] None, formerly EarthClan
Position:[/u] Loner / Rogue
Appearance:[/u] Coriander is a smaller than average she-cat whose size is very misleading. Under her glossy black pelt, hard muscles hide. Not an ounce of excess fat lines her sleek frame, a physique earned from a hard life, full of quick exits and hard chases. Her tail is long and thin, an advantage when stealth is necessary. Her beautiful pelt and thin visage make her look small and helpless at first glance. But if you were to look into her vivid green eyes, you would see the feral intensity, the glaring ferocity of a predator. Reflected in her jade green gaze, you would find the lethal intent that lies hidden, just beneath the surface.
Coriander’s stance is always completely confident but alert when in the presence of another cat. Her wide stance and ever ready claws give her an air of confidence with just a hint of danger. When alone, her stance is always tense, ready, and stealthy. She constantly moves around, vigilant for any other cats that might see her. For this reason above any other, she avoids detection and captivity.
Personality:[/u] Coriander is a devoted warrior for StarClan. She has spent her whole life since she was 5 moons old trying to follow StarClan’s will and keep the Clans safe. Her faith and devotion defines her outlook on life. She has few friends because of her desire to maintain a low profile. However, she is a kind cat who is trying to help keep the Clans safe. She doesn’t concern herself with the Clan rivalries or wars unless a Clan is threatened to be wiped out. She sees herself as a warrior for StarClan, rather than for one Clan. She is extremely intelligent, near or above genius. Her stealth and cunning make her difficult to detect. This is an advantage because she lives in all of the territories and this has marked her as a rogue. Though she has never harmed an honest Clan cat, the Clans still seek to drive her off of their land. She is hated and feared by rouges and rogue bands throughout the territories.
History:[/u] Coriander was born as Corianderkit in EarthClan. Her mother had two other kits; Thymekit and Morningkit. When she was four moons old, her father, Mantisclaw, killed her mother and Morningkit while Corianderkit and Thymekit were out playing. He fled before anyone found out. When the other queens found the bodies, Corianderkit went after Mantisclaw. She was intelligent enough to realize that she could not possibly win in a head-on battle, so she came up with a risky but effective strategy as she searched for him. She knew that to give herself the highest advantage, she would have to choose the battlefield herself and use it to take him down. She chose a spot on the edge of the territory, where bushes hide the edge of a rocky cliff. Rubbing her scent all over the area, she concentrated her marking near the edge, just inside of the bushes. When she located her father, she deliberately made noise, and then quickly hid in a tree. He followed, always a step behind as she leaped from tree to tree. When he finally found her scent, he followed it to where it was strongest, just inside of the bushes. He noticed the ledge and peeked over to see how steep the drop was. He didn’t notice Corianderkit, who rammed him in the back end. With a yowl of surprise and a scrabbling of frantice claws, Mantisclaw tumbled off the crag, to his death. Coriander looked down at her father’s body with a hardness in her eyes that wasn’t there previously.
When the Clan found Mantisclaw, Corianderkit was safely back at the nursery, the other queens none the wiser. About a moon later, her surrogate mother was killed in a rogue attack. The Clan had been distracted by the battle across the territory and couldn’t bring help soon enough. Corianderkit was devastated. She groomed herself thoroughly and ran away from the territories. She met an old tom who went by Chief. He was the leader of the Shadow Guard; an elite group of warriors that protected the alley cats of the twolegplace. He took her on as an apprentice. He taught her how to fight efficiently. By the time she left, she could kill in twelve different ways in thirty seconds or less. She learned how to use stealth to her advantage and how to be invisible in any environment. Chief’s most valuable lesson, however, was to help her figure out what she would do with the rest of her life.
Fourteen moons after leaving the forest, she bid farewell to Chief and returned to the forest to fight dark-hearted cats like her father and rogues, like the ones that killed her surrogate mother. At 20 moons, she was found hiding in EarthClan territory by her sister, now called Thymeleaf. Coriander was going by just Coriander now, and was overjoyed to find that her sister was safe. She refused to return tot the Clan, to her sister’s dismay. Instead, she chose the life of a loner. Naturally, EarthClan found her scent on their land eventually. Fortunately, Chief’s teachings made her cautious enough to have more than one den. She slept in them all, none for more than one night at a time. As her dens were on the lands of all the Clans, the others soon learned of her existence. However, none but Thymeleaf had ever actually seen her.
Soon after, Coriander killed the leader of a rogue band in battle. She buried the body. The band didn’t discover his disappearance until the next morning. News of this mysterious death scent that hovered in the area spread throughout the Clans. They believed Coriander to be dead. Her scent was rediscovered a half moon later, bringing hope to the devastated Thymeleaf. Rumors of the deaths of evil rogues and cruel cats began to ripple through the Clans. It was only a matter of time before she was discovered.
During Coriander’s 24th moon, FireClan finally caught her. They took her prisoner and kept her under guard. They wanted to know more about the deaths and this mysterious she-cat. Coriander decided to stay captive for several days in order to be able to sleep without having to be tense. After three days of interrogation, she decided to escape. The next morning, she was gone and her guards were unconscious. To this day, FireClan doesn’t know how this happened or how she managed to escape without leaving a scent-trail, an old trick she learned from Chief.
The incident was discussed at the Gathering, and finally, her identity was discerned. EarthClan was amazed that she was still alive, but even more amazed that she had managed to become so dangerous of a fighter and so stealthy of a cat. Currently, Coriander is hunting dangerous rogues. Her dens are in trees in secrets locations in all of the territories. She sleeps high on the branches of trees.
IC:[/u] Under the silver light of a pale moon, a shrill wailing broke the tense silence that had fallen over the fading trees on a warm night in November. A protective layer of bramble near the edge of a clearing covered a motionless lump or brown fur. Shrill cries came from a small black and white kit, her soft kitten fur ruffled from alarm. Her wild green eyes sought out another cat to help, just to bury her face back in the brown fur as none were found. She looked up as she heard someone come into the nursery. She looked into the green eyes of the newcomer, so similar and yet so alien, so distant.
“Corianderkit?” the black and white kit mewed with a slight waver in her voice. She had never seen that look in her sister’s eyes, though it seemed to have been hiding beneath the surface for the past moon, ever since their mother had been killed. The steely hardness.
Corianderkit just stood there, staring at the body of the queen that she had just begun to love. Hatred and sorrow mingling in her belly, making her steely eyes burn with an intensity that wasn’t there before.
“Corianderkit?” her sister repeated, “You okay?”
She looked up into her sister’s panicked eyes. “No, Thymekit, I’m not.”
Corianderkit turned and exited the den. Thymekit followed, pleading for her sister to wait. But Corianderkit kept walking, right out of camp and into the forest.
“Stop, Corianderkit!” Thymekit pleaded. “Don’t leave me. Not now. I need you now.”
The small black kit stopped as a pang of anguish pierced her. She turned to Thymekit with unspeakable pain in her eyes.
“I can’t do this anymore,” she whispered. “I can’t stay here and wait for everyone I care about to be killed. I have to find my own way, apart from the Clans.”
Pain was mirrored in both pairs of identical jade eyes, but where there had been confusion, understanding now reflected in Thymekit’s gaze. She could see the determination of her sister and knew it would be useless to argue. She lowered her gaze and Corianderkit turned to leave.
“I hope you find what you’re looking for,” Thymekit whispered.
Corianderkit looked back fro a moment, a look that said more than words ever could. With that, she turned away and disappeared into the shadows of the forest.
