The sun was setting in the west, and the sky had turned red. The water reflected the light from the sun, shinning into Dragonstar's eyes, making her squint every now and again. She was alone, and felt the weight of a new responsibility creep over her. She wished she could take it off and let someone else carry it but no, that was impossible, StarClan had planned this for her, it was her destiny, her future.
Now that she was leader of OceanClan, she had to take charge, they needed more warriors, and the only apprentice they had at the moment was Lightningpaw, who was her own. She new she shouldn't have listened to Silentclaw, but his words constantly echoed in her head, making her dizzy, and somewhat sick. She didn't want this path, it was made for her, and she was forced to walk it. Even if she told this to the insane cat, he would not believe her, even if he said he did. It was impossible.
So many things aren't possible.....
The tide came in slightly, cool water washing at her paws. She closed her eyes slightly, and was taken away. She was no longer sitting on the beach, she was walking in the light of the stars, onward......
One will rise
One will fall
But the weak will prevail
And walk under the path of the stars.
Dragonstar blinked awake. What had just happened? The words echoed through her head. What was it? A sign from StarClan? A prophecy? She shoke her head.
I'm just imagining things....
It was then she noticed the sun had sunk behind the horizen, and Starpelt was now directly above her. She felt comfort, for one moment, then it was replaced by dread.
Maybe it is a sign...
She sat there a bit longer, shivering against the cold. She couldn't be sure yet, she might have to think about it. But right now, night had come and she needed enough rest to train Lightningpaw the following day.
